Annette (Blackburn) Jensen

I can't believe it has been ten years. It was nice to see those at the
reunion, but we missed those that didn't come. Just an update on my life
since high school. I attended Snow for a year and decided maybe that wasn't
for me. I guess when your parents own there own business you can get hired
really quick! I worked for my dad for a few years and helped my mom with
her business as well.
I met Kevin and we were married Nov. 2002 in the Manti Temple. We bought a
home in Loa and we love living here and I don't think we will ever leave as
long as work is available. Kevin works for Brown Brothers Construction and
he works away often, but I stay busy as a full time mom.
We have two girls, Cheyannne and Emily
Cheyanne is 3 and will be 4 in October. Emily is 1 and will be 2 in August
and they are the light of our lives. I love being a full time mom and the
busy life it brings. Hope to see you in the near future. If you want to

WoW, I can't believe it's been 10 years. Time has flown by. Here is a summary of what has been going on with me since high school.

In July of 1998 I went to Phoenix, Arizona to go to Devry University to get my bachelor's degreen in Computer Information Systems. I attended my first year there while working.

From August 1999 to July 2001 I went on a mission to the Flordia, FT. Lauderdale mission. I got to learn Spanish(finally)(case anyone forgot I was born in Columbia). I went back as a normal person to Miami in January of 2002. It was a lot of fun.

After my mission I came back to Phoenix to Devry to finish my degree. I graduated in February 2004 with my bachelor's degree. While going to school the 2nd go around I worked some jobs mainly in market research, served in many callings in church and then I met my wife(Kristina). I was attending the Spanish branch keeping up with the language when in she walked, a blond haired, blue-eyed woman. I was wondering what in the world she was doing there. I asked her if she spoke Spanish and she replied with "you speak English?". Well I couldn't get enough of her and we started dating and then in March of 2003 we were married in Mesa, AZ. I started a job at Cox Communications(a telecommunications company here in Phoenix) in the technical support department. After about 2 years there I transferred to the Bilingual department where I have been since and am now an assistant supervisor. I love the people I work with and the company. It has great benefits and even though the company is
big it is like a family environment. My wife has worked for Avon and is still working doing that but has also gotten her bachelors degree in education studies and worked as a peer support specialist for a behavioral agency in Phoenix.

We were just us 2 for a few years and we had always wanted to have children. We kept trying for over 3 years and nothing was happening. We went to doctors and were told that my wife wouldn't be able to conceive and also myself wouldn't be able to conceive as well. We were devasted but decided that we would try to adopt. We went to all the classes to adopt a special needs child and then when we were ready to adopt after the program we were told we couldn't adopt for a number of reasons. Again we were just heartbroken and thought we wouldn't have children. We kept praying and hanging on to hope. Well all of a sudden 1 day Kristina started feeling sick and we went to the doctor and to our surprise she was pregnant. After 9 months of a complicated pregnancy our little angel Candice(we call her Candi) was born in May 2007. So now we are a family of 3 and she is now 14 months old. She is an absolute joy and couldn't imagine our life without her. It made us realize that God is
overall and doesn't matter what people say.

We weren't able to make it to the reunion but will try to keep everyone posted on what's going on. We moved into our home in April of this year. It is less than 5 minutes from my work and Kristina is a stay at home mom. We only make it up there maybe once every 2-3 years.

THE REUNION

A big thanks to April, Stephanie, and Jamie for putting in a lot of time and effort to get us all rounded up and things planned out. The reunion was really fun and it was so nice to see people for the first time in 10 years. Although a few classmates were spotted earlier in the day out and about, the ones who attended were: Lance, Phyl, Shirley, Vanessa, Heather, Elessa, Annette, Tacey (Chappell), Alicia, April, Stephanie, me, Eric, and Teresa. Lance showed off his new baby girl. There were four pregnant classmates, ranging from "not showing" to "ready to have the kid out of me." Congrats to Heather and Elessa who are expecting their first babies, Shirley for her third, and Vanessa for her fourth (I think). We ate a nice dinner, stood up and talked a bit about where we are now in our lives, and then had the auction (with Eric as the auctioneer). Although Annette and Stephanie almost got into a catfight over some Biolage hair products up for auction and Eric was going to sing a Lionel Ritchie song to sweeten one of the deals, it went extremely well. I'm sure we all hope to see more of you for the next one in another 10 years. Eric, Lance, and Morgan volunteered to plan and execute the next reunion. Can someone please inform Morgan that he volunteered. There was talk about keeping this blog open to continue to update the happenings in our lives. I think it's a great idea and I will continue to post whatever you guys send me. Also, please send me any pics you guys took from the reunion. I only have a group shot.

Elessa Ellett

So a little update on me for the last 10 years. I moved to Orem after highschool and went to UVSC. After a year I got a little bored with that and decided to find something else to do with my time. I worked for Microsoft for about three years and attended The Utah College of Massage Therapy. I have done massage (when I want to) off and on for the last 7 years. I still intend on going back and getting my bachelors degree (as soon as I decide what I want to be when I grow up). I have changed jobs as often as relationships over the last 10 years. I have done everything from ski photography to fighting fires, and have enjoyed most of them. Three years ago I move back to Bicknell and have been working at Passages To Recovery ever since. For those of you who don't know, we are a wilderness program for adults with drug and alcohol issues. I really enjoy what I do and where I live. A few years ago I met Michael Hinkle (a hippy boy from Indiana). We moved in together and are expecting a son, Miles, toward the beginning of August. It was great reading all the other updates. Teresa (Torgerson) Brande

Hello everyone! Its amazing the changes that a decade can bring and how fast it goes by. After graduation I went to Snow College and then to SUU in Cedar City. I graduated from SUU with a degree in Finance in May of 2001 and moved to the Salt Lake Area to begin work. I started working as a loan officer for Mountain America Credit Union and eventually became a mortgage loan underwriter. After moving to SLC, I reconnected with a friend, Jared Brande, who I had met 3 years earlier at Snow College and we got married in March of 2002 in Manti.

After we got married we lived in West Jordan for 2 years. Then in August of 2004 we moved to Eugene, Oregon where my husband went to the University of Oregon for grad school. While he was in school I worked for US Bank as a commercial lender and then stopped working when we had our first daughter, Alyssa, in August of 2005. We loved living in Oregon, it is a beautiful place but it did take some time to get used to all the rain. We spent most of our free time at the coast which was about 50 miles from where we lived and we also spent some time in Portland. We met some great friends along the way and had a great experience there. After three years in Oregon, we moved back to Utah and my husband got a job in St. George. A month after moving to St. George I had our second daughter, Hallie who was born in October. We have lived here for almost a year now and love the fact that we traded in constant rain for constant sun.

I have moved over 15 times since graduation to various places and cities but in each city I have lived I have met someone who has ties to and loves Wayne County. Whether it be through relatives, friends, or Fishlake and Capitol Reef. I realize what a great place we got to grow up in and still get a good laugh when I remember some of the things that happened at Wayne High.

Tanya Hiskey Sperry

After high school I attended SUU for one year then moved to the Provo/Orem area and attended UVSC where I received my associates degree. While there I met my soon to be (ok, 3 years later) husband. We dated on and off for a couple years and somewhere in the middle, I felt a desire to serve a mission. I served in the Singapore, Singapore Mission. What and amazing experience! I truly loved serving. I met some wonderful people and had a lot of awesome experiences. I returned home in January of 2004, and was married by July of the same year.
Jason and I now find ourselves living in Orem. He works for a company in Provo that deals with banking software. He travels, at times, quite a bit, but I stay busy at home with our two children, Ashley (2ish) and Jackson (6 months). They add so much to our lives and we feel really blessed. We are very happy. It is so good to hear from so many of you. I wish all of you the best through the next 10 years!!! Have fun at the reunion.

Hey all-

The last 10 years have been tons of fun for me! After high school I moved to Logan to attend USU. I lived up there for a little over 4 years. I met some of the most awesome people and best friends up there and loved living in Logan! I attended USU off and on the whole time but eventually ended up moving to Salt Lake City. I attend The Center for Travel Education and then I finished my Associate's Degree at Salt Lake Community College. I have now lived in Salt Lake for 6 years and have met a lot more awesome people who have become great friends. I am working for Marriott Vacation Club International in the Technical Support department and have been there for 5 1/2 years. I love my job and the awesome benefits that come along with it.

In the last 10 years I have had the opportunity to do quite a bit of traveling. Just to name some of the bigger trips, I have been to New York City (4 times), Washington DC, Baltimore MD, Portland OR, Redwoods N.P. in CA, Glacier N.P. in MT, Mesa Verde N.P. in CO, Yellowstone N.P. in WY/MT, and a 2 week road trip from Utah to New York and back to see the church history sites. In between all of those trips there have been some smaller road trips and camping trips to various places. I'm trying to figure out a good time to go somewhere internationally but with the exchange rate and gas prices now who knows when that will happen!

So that's been my life for the past 10 years in a nutshell. I'm still single and enjoying life and whatever adventures I can squeeze in. I most likely won't make it to the reunion that night but hopefully will see some of you around earlier in the day. Phyl and Shirley

Hello Everyone,

10 years, that went by fast.

As far as I know Shirley and I are the only ones that married eachother from our class
so I will try to keep this short. Right after high school I went into the Marines, what an experience.
Shirley worked and then went to Logan to USU. After bootcamp and the school of infantry I moved
to Logan also. We decided to get married, we know 19 is young, in May 1999. We then moved to
Cedar City and worked in various job. Towards the end of 1999 Shirley's dad offered me a job so we
moved to back to Wayne County. We were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in July of 2000.

In Sept. 2001 we had Hannah Grace. We then moved to Montanna for a while to help Shirley's Mom.
When we moved back we built a house down by the rifle range Bicknell Bottoms area.
In 2003 we had Ethan Phyl. I got an honorable discharge from the Marines just before my unit was called
to active duty and went to Iraq. Since then Shirley's dad and I have built a small trucking and custom farming business.
We mostly haul hay to Arizona, haul cows, and do custom baling.

Shirley started working at the Wayne Community Health Center about three years ago and now she is a
Pharmacy Tech. She is a great mother and is now expecting our third on Nov. 4.
Life is good sometimes very hectic but we wouldn't trade it for anything.
We will be at the reunion and hope to see you all there. If anyone needs a place to stay we would be more than happy to

Tacey (Chappell) Lawrence

Wow! Ten years has definitely flown by for me. Well, after high school I went to Snow College for two years. I met my husband my second year at Snow. We got married in January of 2000 in the Manti Temple. I graduated from Snow that May and we moved up to Salt Lake. I worked at Primary Children's for 6 1/2 years as an EKG tech. Then I went back to school at Weber State and got my bachelor's in Cardiac Sonography. I now work at the University of Utah Hospital as a cardiac sonographer (ultrasound of the heart). I have been there for about two years. We have three children. Our daughter Taylor born in 2002, our son Anthony in 2004 and our other son Camden in 2007. Having my last child was the most eventful. We ended up delivering him at home (not the plan). There is more to the story but not enough energy to write it all down. My husband (Dustin) works in the commercial department at Jerry Seiner selling cars and trucks. We are now living in Bountiful, Utah. Elijah Fordham

Hey everybody. Here's an update from me and my life since high school.
After we graduated, I went to Dixie College for a year. I started finishing concrete while I was down there. I was just planning on moving on with life when it hit me that I really needed to serve a mission. So it went and I was called to the Ohio Cincinnati Mission. I went out in 1999 and came home in 2001. My life was really changed while I was out there. I found out there was a difference between being active in the church and being active in the gospel.

Actually, going on a mission paid off in a number of ways. One is that I ended up marrying one of my companions' cousins. Colleen and I got married in April of 2002 in the Bountiful Temple. We've lived in the Ogden, UT area ever since. We built a home in Farr West in 2004 and had a little boy, Corbin, in November 2005. I am a general contractor specializing in concrete and Colleen recently quit her job as a medical assistant. After my mission, I was diagnosed with epilepsy, so it took a long time before we could buy our own insurance. I consider, the ability to buy insurance, one of our great blessings so that Colleen can be home with Corbin. My life's pretty plain, but I've never been happier.

Eric Hofer

A brief overview since H.S. In 1999 I went on a mission to Santiago Chile, I got home in 2000 ( I did complete the two years, I just started in January and ended in December. Thanks for not judging) and then left to go to ASU in Phoenix. I was there for a year, came back to Utah for a few months and then left to Virginia for the summer. I met a girl and rushed into marriage. I finished school at VCU and got my bachelors in Finance. Most of my time there was spent buying and selling houses and pretending like I had money--which I didn't. To any of you reading this that have been personally affected by the mortgage crisis, I apologize. I fully admit that I was part of that bubble.
Not much personal or professional progress was made during the first few years of living in Richmond. However, I have changed quite a bit since I was caught kicking the freshman lockers with my steel-toe Dr. Martens. A little over a year and a half ago I decided to get out of an unhealthy marriage and get a divorce. Surely after putting up with my ex-wife for four years I am still deserving of the "Citizenship Award" which was so graciously bestowed upon me by Jesse Pace our senior year. Thanks J.P.!
I met a girl around the same time, or maybe even a little before my decision to get divorced, *wink*, and after wrapping things up in Richmond and wifey, I moved to New York City to be with said girl. She and I toyed with a lot of ideas of where to go, and to our surprise Utah came up as a place of opportunity. We both landed jobs here and I had the band to work on so in August of 2007 we made the trip and are now living in Sugarhouse. Oh, I mentioned my band. It's a lifelong dream of mine to be in a band so what better time to start one than when you're 27? It's called Steady Machete and it's comprised of myself as singer and guitar player, my little brother Tommy as bassist and keyboards, and our friend Te Lawrence on drums. Hello everyone! I cannot believe that it has been ten years.  I wish I could see you all at the reunion, but I live in Alaska and it is pretty expensive to fly home.  I usually only come home once a year around the holidays.  I hope it all goes well for you.  So since high school I attended Utah State University in Logan for 4 years and got my Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management in May of 2002.  I met my husband, Jared, while going to school.  He was attending USU also and his family lives in Logan.  We were married June 8, 2000.  We had a son, Gavin, in March of 2002 and then I graduated from college 2 months later.  That was a very difficult semester having a baby and getting all of my projects and finals done, but I didi it!  When he was born I decided to be a stay at home mom.  I never thought that is what I would want to do, but I love it!  Jared had joined the Utah Air National Guard around the time that we got engaged in Nov. 1999.  In January 2003 he decided that he wanted to transfer to active duty Air Force and we moved to our first active duty base in May of 2003 to Tucson, Arizona.  We lived there for 3 years and we really enjoyed Arizona.  Then we got orders to move to Fairbanks, Alaska and we have lived here on Eielson Air Force Base since March 2006.  When we first arrived here we weren't too sure if we would like it because it does get very cold (down to -50) and the winters are live 8 months long.  But we have grown to like it here.  We had a baby girl, Rayna, in Sept. 2006.  Jared also finished his Bachelor's degree that same month.  Jared has been deployed twice.  IN 2004 he went to Qatar ( by Saudi Arabia) for 5 months and then this last year he went to Iraq for 7 months.  He got home in March.  That was a very long, hard winter while he was gone but now it so great that he is home!  We really love Alaska and we have seen so many cool things like grizzly bears, moose right outside our living room, lots of caribou, etc.  We are thinking about settling down in Anchorage and buying a house sometime this coming year.  Other than that I have just been busy with being a Mom and all that fun stuff.

Myriah

Hi everyone.  Well I never would have imagined that I would end up where I am today.  After high school, I attended Snow College for two years then decided to become a nanny to get a chance to see more of the country and figure out what I wanted to do with my life.  I got a job in New Jersey and stayed there for for a few years.  Driving there is crazy!  I remember being so scared in driver's ed and totally going all over the road my first few times.  As I recall, Jason, Joe, and Bradley were in the car with me and I think I put the fear of God into them.. So going from that to Turn Pike driving in Jersey was quite a leap.  Nothing like being thrown into the lake to learn how to swim.  While there, I met my husband Jarad.  He attended the Joe Kubert School of ComicBook Art in Dover.  We had a long distance relationship for a good 3ish years then moved to Illinois together (where his family lives).  I taught preschool there while he worked at a bookstore and did art on the side.  We were married in May of 2004, after 4 years of dating.  I loved it in Illinois but his heart was set on California, where he grew up.  In the sweltering heat of August 2005, we caravaned to Los Angeles.  I became a nanny for an actress on Days of Our Lives while he tested video games for THQ and eventually was hired on at Yahoo as a content editor for the advertising section.  After a year and a half of working 60 hours a week, I switched jobs to where I am currently, nannying 30 hours a week for a fairly normal family in South Pasadena. We recently moved to an amazing location in Burbank.  We are literally down the street from The Tonight Show, Ellen, and Days of our Lives studios.  L.A has a lot to offer as far as things to do and see and we haven't even began to see it all.  I love traveling and we have managed to take a few great trips.  We cruised to the western Caribbean and hiked the Mayan pyramids for our honeymoon,  spent a week in Ireland in 2006, and I took a two week holiday with a girlfriend to Ireland and England just a couple months ago. I love Ireland!  I would love to go to Italy next but now we are saving for a house.  My Crohn's disease has put me in the hospital a few times and I've had some close calls but I'm managing it well now and keeping myself healthy and in good mental and physical shape.  Jarad has stood by my side and supported me through the thick of it, even when I looked more like Skeletor than his girlfriend/wife. We don't have any kids yet and probably won't for a few years.  I know all too well how much work it is and am not ready to give up my freedom yet. I will probably keep nannying until we are ready to start our family.  Jarad continues to do (and hate) the corporate 9 to 5 while doing freelance comic art jobs on the side.  We are considering moving to Chicago eventually to be close to his family and our friends who live just south of there.
